A Key to Something -- On starting a newsletter, staying with the blog, and what I'm thinking about these days

I've been writing here for years — poems, essays, dispatches from the practice, the occasional film recommendation — and that continues. This is still home base. But I've been circling the idea of a newsletter for a while now, and I finally did it.


It's called A Key to Something. The name is a play on aquí — the Spanish word for here, which is also the sound at the heart of A Key Therapy. Present. Located. Be Here Now. Ram ram.


The newsletter goes out every couple of weeks. I'm hoping it will be different parts of my life talk to each other — the clinic, the page, the research, the road. I'll share things I'm reading and thinking about, updates on the novel and the DSW work, and the kind of writing that feels more like a letter than a post.


The blog keeps going on its own rhythm. When I publish here, I'll share it on socials sporadically — nothing like blah, just when something feels worth passing along. The newsletter is different: it comes to you directly in your email.


And yes big drum roll — I'm on TikTok now. Find me at @lex_santi, where I've been talking about the novel, the writing life, and whatever else feels worth saying in under a minute. It's an experiment and no, I don't know what I'm doing there. Come watch me figure it out.



What to expect in A Key to Something:

The Clinic — Therapy, supervision, the AMI framework, and what actually happens in rooms where people try to change.

The Page — Novel updates, craft, the writing life — including news on The Song of the Midnight Rider.

The Research — DSW work, the AMI framework in development, and academia made readable.

The Road — Personal essays — identity, place, family, faith, the examined life.


Basically everyting will live here and there and no, I don't know what I'm doing on tiktok so let's just laugh.
